Martha Hunt’s French Sandals Have a Cult Following

When I travel, I love buying specialty items that each region is known for, such as mochilas from Colombia, Waterford crystal from Ireland, and Kona coffee from Hawaii. When it comes to St. Tropez’s trademark export, there’s one fashion item that stands above the rest: sandals.

Last year, French publication Le Monde wrote a feature dubbed “St. Tropez’s War of the Luxury Sandals,” referencing the competition between local brands K. Jacques and Rondini. Right now, I’m focusing on the former because I just spotted Martha Hunt wearing the brand, reigniting my obsession with its sandals. Family-owned since 1933, K. Jacques has attracted plenty of celebrity clients over the years, ranging from Brigitte Bardot and Pablo Picasso to Kate Moss and Michelle Obama.
