Angelina Jolie posted rare photos of herself and her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt out together at the Brooklyn Musum, sharing a carousel of images on Instagram of their visit. The 17-year-old college student was with her mom to see the show Death to the Living: Long Live Trash, by the artist Duke Riley. The exhibition showcases marine pollution, a subject close to Jolie’s heart.
The artist himself toured his show with the pair, giving them an intimate look into his work. Jolie was wearing a long black coat over tall black heeled boots and she carried a large brown leather bag. Zahara was in jeans and a long-sleeved black t-shirt.
“Z and I went to see the @dukerileystudio exhibition at the Brooklyn museum,” Jolie wrote in her caption. “In Duke’s latest show at the Brooklyn Museum, DEATH TO THE LIVING, Long Live Trash, his reinterpretations of maritime folk art – made using trash removed from the ocean – expose plastic pollution that, along with climate change and habitat loss, are pushing our oceanic ecosystems to collapse.”
She shared a number of photos of the art, which is comprised of tiled paintings and sculptures of modern plastic objects carved in maritime images and style.
Zahara began attending school at Spelman College this year, and Jolie was recently seen at the university to celebrate homecoming weekend. She shared a photo of Zahara with her new friends at the HBCU on Instagram as well.
“Zahara with her Spelman sisters!” Jolie wrote. “Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”
In addition to Zahara, Jolie has five other children, 14-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, 16-year-old Shiloh, 18-year-old Pax, and 20-year-old Maddox.
