Why: One of Fendi’s most instantly recognizable shapes is the cheeky Peekaboo, becoming a fan favorite over the years thanks in large part to its versatile style and excellent craftsmanship. In honor of National Handbag Day on Oct. 10, Fendi released a small capsule of Peekaboos in black, white, and mint green. Contrasting Selleria stitching and exotic leather top handles round out the offerings of mini, small, and medium-size handbags. There are larger versions for men, too…just in case you’re looking to get a head start on holiday shopping.

Why: Forget about those viral Bama Rush TikTok fashion videos. Houston-based handbag designer Beth Purpich is championing what she’s dubbed “collegiate luxury.” A former college athlete herself (she played basketball for Auburn) with a flair for design, Purpich sources only the finest materials and most talented artisans to produce her collections. Among her biggest hits to-date is the Longhorn bag, which debuted as a calf hair tophandle and found an ideal ambassador in Austin-based stylist Loreal Sarkisian, who just happens to be the wife of University of Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian, always impeccably turned out (the woman brought Chanel to the sidelines), carried the new miniature version (stadium-approved size) in burnt orange alligator to last weekend’s game against Oklahoma which saw the Longhorns win 49-0. Perhaps it also doubles as a good luck charm?
